Figure 1 Goff and the Lions have been the surprise of the NFL season

Jared Goff is not what you would call a young star of the NFL, he is now finding himself in the spotlight after leading the Detroit Lions to the NFC Championship game for the first time since 1991. The Lions have barely featured in the postseason at all for the majority of that time.

A former Super Bowl–losing quarterback, Goff is now fortunate to be in charge of a Detroit team that has come on leaps and bounds this season and exceeded the expectations of all but the most passionate of Lions fans. This is a team that is now worthy of using the best sportsbook offers on.

Goff is experienced enough to realize how important the next few years are going to be for the Detroit Lions. Whether they can go on and become a force in the NFL remains to be seen. But we thought we would look at the life of the quarterback at one of the league’s surprise teams this year – and his all-important net worth.

Jared Goff Net Worth

As of January 2024, Jared Goff’s net worth is estimated to be around $70 million. Now in his eighth season in the NFL, Goff has been able to accrue his fortune through salary increases, endorsements and investments.

Early Life

Goff was born in San Rafael, California on October 14, 1994. He is the son of Jerry Goff, a former Major League Baseball player who turned out for Montreal, Pittsburgh, and Houston. He also has an older sister called Lauren.

Goff showed a talent for football in high school and received a number of scholarship offers before deciding to play for the University of California, Berkeley. He was named as the starting quarterback for the Golden Bears in his freshman year and set 26 different records in his three years at the school. Only Aaron Rodgers can boast better numbers. He then decided to forego his senior year and make himself eligible for the 2016 NFL Draft.

NFL Success

A Californian native, it looked at one point that Goff could be taken by the San Francisco 49ers, his hometown team. But, in what was something of a surprise, the Los Angeles Rams traded up in the first round and acquired the number one overall pick from the Tennessee Titans. This allowed the Rams to make Goff the first pick of the draft – and meant that Goff would remain in his home state.

Goff signed a rookie contract worth $27.9 million in guaranteed money, including an $18.6 million signing bonus. After beginning the season as the backup QB, Goff was named as starter for the final seven games of the 2016 season after an injury to Case Keenum. Although the Rams lost all seven of those games, Goff did manage to throw for five touchdowns and rushed for a TD of his own.

With new head coach Sean McVay coming in for 2017, Goff’s game improved, alongside the Rams as a whole. He got his first professional win in the season opener and went on to lead the Rams to the NFC West title, their first since 2003. A loss to the Atlanta Falcons in the Wild Card round ended the season though.

Goff and the Rams went even better in 2018. After winning the NFC West once again, the team received a first-round bye and then beat the Cowboys and the Saints to reach Super Bowl LII. The Rams had only lost three times all season but struggled in a defensive championship game, going down 13-3 to the Patriots, with Goff unable to throw or run for any touchdowns at all.

Goff spent another two years in Los Angeles but saw his form dip a little, ultimately being traded to the Detroit Lions in exchange for Matthew Stafford. Detroit had been struggling for years and Goff was unable to turn the franchise around in his first season. But he did lead the Lions to a winning record in 2022, their first since 2017.

The 2023 season has been a revelation for Goff and Detroit. A win against reigning champions Kansas City in the season opener set the pace and the Lions went on to capture the NFC North for the first time ever. Goff was able to beat his former team – the Rams – in the Wild Card round and then overcame Tampa Bay in the Divisional round. At the time of writing, he was set to face the San Francisco 49ers, the team he supported as a boy, for a place at Super Bowl LVIII.

Goff has been selected for the Pro Bowl on three occasions and played in a Super Bowl for the Los Angeles Rams.

Jared Goff Personal Life

Goff met Christen Harper on a dating app in 2019 and the two were engaged in 2022. She is an actress and model who was the co-winner of Sports Illustrated’s 2021 search for new talent.

Future Prospects

Goff has amassed a fortune as a highly-rated NFL quarterback. After impressing during his first few years at the Los Angeles Rams, his current contract is a four-year, $134 million deal. His average annual salary is over $33 million and he will be able to renegotiate an even better deal in 2025 when this contract expires and he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Goff also earns around $2 million a year through endorsements with Banana Republic, Pizza Hut, Red Bull, BMW, Bose, Hulu, and Nike and has a number of other investments, including his own clothing line.

After the success of this season, Goff is in a perfect position to boost his earnings further with a new contract in 2025 and more lucrative endorsements as a potential Super Bowl winner.
