Some people do not consider a leaking tap to be a particularly high priority to deal with (particularly if there are many other jobs around the house), which means that they leave it for an extended period of time. However, you are much better off ensuring that it is dealt with sooner rather than later. There are also several different causes that could be resulting in your problem occurring, some of which might be quite quick to solve. Let’s check out a few of these in more detail.

Sticky Tap

The simplest problem could be that a tap has simply become too difficult to turn, which means that you are leaving it running as it is not easy to get all the way closed. In these situations, you may be able to use some kind of lubricating substance to make the tap easier to turn. If this is not working out for you, a wrench could be the solution to your problems, but you need to be careful not to damage the tap. Cleaning away any residue that has built up can also prove to be a useful step to take.

Issues with the Pipe

The next potential issue that you could find yourself facing involves issues with the pipe. If this is the case, there could be fluctuations in the water pressure at home, which means that there is a likelihood that the taps are going to start leaking. It may be worth getting a professional leak detection service to take a closer look at where the problem may be originating from. Other signs that your taps are not in good working order include additional discharge and unpleasant smells.

High Water Pressure

It could be an issue of simple high water pressure that is causing leakage in your taps, and this is a problem that is hopefully not going to be too challenging to put right once again. Ultimately, this issue is going to mean that water will not be flowing efficiently in the way that you would have hoped. You may be able to lower your water pressure on your own if you have a system that is easy to access – or calling in a plumber may well be the option for you.

Damaged Cartridge

This may well be the type of issue that you were not even sure was going to occur, but it is also a common reason why your taps may be leaking and therefore something that you need to attempt to put right. Essentially, these are specifically designed to control the flow and temperature of the water coming out of the tap. While these may well be highly durable pieces of equipment, they still have the potential to degrade over time if you are not all that careful. Again, if you are not certain of anything, calling in a pro may well be the best course of action.

There you have just four of the potential reasons why it may well be the case that issues with leaking tap are occurring, so now is the time to act.
