Concentration

Concentration involves collecting and cryopreserving several semen samples from a man with a low sperm count.

These samples can then be later combined and concentrated to increase the density of sperm and increase the chances of a successful fertilization procedure. We will work with you and your fertility specialist to determine how many samples are needed and make the necessary arrangements, added  Dr. Ian Hardy. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, and his Residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Hardy’s Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility was at Harvard Medical School’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

Semen Quality Evaluation Dreams Fertility is fully equipped to perform all aspects of semen quality evaluation, including:

· Sperm Counts

· Motility

· Freeze/thaw stability

· Infectious Diseases

For those patients who would like to use a known sperm donor, we are able to assist in that process. Each known donor must be screened exactly like an anonymous donor, including blood tests and the six

months of quarantine time. The costs of testing each known donor must be covered by the patient requesting the donor sperm.

Risks of Infertility

Many factors influence the risk of infertility after cancer treatment, including age, cancer type, treatment type, and underlying fertility potential. High-dose radiation to the abdomen and pelvis, as well as chemotherapy with alkylating agents like cyclophosphamide and procarbazine, are linked to an increased risk of amenorrhea, premature ovarian failure, and early menopause. Non-alkylating chemotherapy is less dangerous.

Things that should be kept in mind while planning for a healthy baby

· Weight is the main problem for conceiving a baby:

People who are overweight have a greater risk and complications during pregnancy and can also suffer from various heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers.

· Time of ovulating is also very significant before conceiving:

Knowing when you can ovulate will help you time plan for when pregnancy is most likely to happen. Scheduling in the few days leading up to ovulation and on the day of ovulation boosts the chances of pregnancy.

· Age affects your chance of conceiving a healthy baby through natural means:

Age is the single enormous factor influencing a woman’s chance to conceive. A woman’s fertility starts to decrease in her early 30s, and more till the age of 35 as compared to men. Men of age up to 40 can plan afterwards. They will also have problems.

· Alcohols and various chemicals are hazardous:

Smoking, drinking alcohol, and using certain can cause many problems during pregnancy, such as premature birth, birth defects, and infant death, or sometimes miscarriage too. If you are striving to get

pregnant and cannot stop drinking, smoking, contact your healthcare provider, so that under the preservation you can easily conceive.

Female Fertility Testing

· Getting Pregnant is Not Always Easy

Starting and building your family can be an exciting milestone. But for over 6 million American couples, achieving that dream of parenthood will be a challenge. For these 10% of reproductive-age couples, getting pregnant will not be easy. There are many reasons.

· Infertility Causes

As a rule, a healthy lifestyle is a helpful adjunct. A good diet coupled with adequate exercise can help. Moderation with caffeine and alcohol is important as well. Patients should abstain from smoking when trying to conceive. A healthy lifestyle is important since these habits should be continued into pregnancy.

In women, problems with ovulation or the fallopian tubes are common issues that impact fertility. Men may have problems with sperm counts, motility (how many sperm are moving), or morphology (if the sperm look normal).

Problems associated with infertility can most often be easily remedied. Most problems can be treated either medically or surgically. At times, just instituting a basic infertility therapy can overcome problems.

· When To Seek Help?

Contacting your Ob-Gyn or primary care physician can be a great place to start. These doctors may either initiate a basic fertility evaluation themselves or can refer patients directly to a physician who specializes in fertility. In either case, the key is to get the process moving so that time is not lost, appropriate testing is begun, and treatment, if needed, is initiated in a timely manner.

Connecticut Fertility Associates believes that it is often appropriate to consult a reproductive health professional after a year of unsuccessful pregnancy attempts. However, for women over the age of 35, seeking help after 6 months of trying makes sense.
